Vendor Tax Information

1099 Reporting
GSA, as a federal agency, is required to report total payments over $600 in a calendar year to any non government vendor providing services to the federal government. This includes payments to corporations for services provided. For more information see the IRS instructions for form 1099-MISC at: http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/i1099msc.pdf

B-Notices
Federal law requires federal agencies to have a valid TIN from its vendors in order to process disbursements.
GSA is required to mail B-notices to vendors when the name and/or Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) do not agree with Internal Revenue Service (IRS) records. This includes Social Security Numbers (SSNs) for sole proprietors, as well as Employer Identification Numbers (EINs) for companies.
If a B-notice is received, corrective actions and instructions will be provided.
